Love’s Instruments is the second poetry collection by Melvin Dixon—poet, novelist, and educator whose work chronicled the lives of Black gay men. Dixon died of AIDS-related complications in 1992, and this posthumous collection was published in 1995 under the guidance of Elizabeth Alexander, then editor of Tia Chucha Press, who also wrote the introduction.
